MOBILE SPIRITIST LIBRARY
To inspire a love of reading, build community, and spark creativity by fostering neighborhood book exchanges around the Benton Harbor.
"Let’s sow the spiritist book, and we will be freeing the world of tomorrow starting today, with the dawn of the New Era that Spiritism becomes a messenger." - Joanna de Angelis (Book: Floracoes Evangelicas)
What is the Chico Xavier Mobile Spiritist Library?
The purpose of the MOBILE SPIRITIST LIBRARY is to disseminate the Spiritist Doctrine in homes (from door to door), by lending Spiritist books of esteemed moral nature. It also provides the volunteer with an opportunity to disseminate, bringing consolation, clarification and guidance through the books, and therefore, exercise charity.
"The Spiritist Book, penetrating every home, from the hut to the mansion, will lead the Immortal Spirit to 'knowledge of himself', to his full and definitive liberation." - (Francisco Thiesen, Reformador, 1972 - p. 137, FEB)
Why do the Chico Xavier Mobile Spiritist Library?
"Today, the promised Consoler brings to the world messages of hope, and the chosen instrument is the book!
Through the blessed hands of Allan Kardec, Humanity received the divine message for its freedom and spiritual evolution.
Books and books arrived on Earth, like showers of blessings, enriching the human heart with the words of warning, guidance and love. Teachings that become itineraries, paths that are enriched by souls touched by the great gift. Earthly humanity will find its way and will see peace and harmony arise in a hymn of love and gratitude. To study, learn, apply, practice, experience the teachings is to become a participant in this Divine Light, coming from the Creator and guided by the Spirit of Truth.
[...] Here is the Spiritist Book! Here is the Light of Heaven available to Man!
This is the heart of the Divine Master, throbbing in the heart of the world! "
(Bezerra de Menezes, Reformador, 1987 - p. 101, FEB)
“So let us sow the spiritist book, and from now on we will be freeing the world of tomorrow, with the dawn of the New Age of which Spiritism makes itself a messenger.” - Joanna de Angelis (Free translation, Florações Evangélicas, LEAL, 3º. ed., p. 107)
What is the Chico Xavier Enlightenment Initiative?
Chico Xavier's Campaign of Enlightenment has the purpose of promoting the Spiritist Doctrine in the homes (door to door) through the loan of Spiritist books of esteemed moral nature. On the other hand, it tries to provide the volunteer the opportunity of the work of diffusion and consolation, clarification and orientation through the book, and, therefore, to exercise the charity.
"The Spiritist Book, penetrating all homes, from the shack to the palace, will lead the Immortal Spirit to the 'knowledge of himself', to his integral and definitive liberation."
(Free translation, Francisco Thiesen, Reformador, 1972 - p. 137, FEB)
Why conduct the Chico Xavier Enlightenment Initiative?
"Today, the promised Comforter brings the world months of hope, and the chosen instrument is the book! By the blessed hands of Allan Kardec, humanity received the divine message for its liberation and spiritual evolution. Books and books have come to Earth as rains of blessings, enriching the human heart with words of warning, guidance and love. Teachings that become itineraries, paths that enrich themselves with souls moved by the great gift. The earthly Humanity will find its road and will see peace and harmony emerge in a hymn of love and gratitude. To study, learn, apply, practice and experience these teachings is to become a partaker of this Divine Light, coming from the Creator and guided by the Spirit of Truth. [...] Eis o Livro Espírita! HOW DOES IT WORK
1st Step: Book Offer
In this step we will offer the Spiritist Book as a source of clarification and consolation. We will duly fill out the Book Loan Form, clarifying the reader about the care he should have with the book, as well as explaining the return date for the loaned book, which is 14 days from the loan date. We will then deliver an explanatory letter about the Chico Xavier Clarification Initiative. Please always leave a spiritist message at the end of the visit. We strongly emphasize the importance of offering pre-selected books.
2nd Stage: Book Collection
After 14 days, the volunteer will come back to the home to collect the loaned book and leave another spiritist message.
It may happen that the loan is requested to be renewed due to the non conclusion of the reading and, in this case, the volunteer will communicate the new date when the collection will take place, after 14 days.
In order for the Chico Xavier Clarification Campaign to cover the entire area planned, the loan of books will be made only once. On the day of the collection, we will invite the family to attend the treatments, the course of Basic Notions of Spiritist Doctrine, the assistencial works of the Spiritist Center, its bookshop or library, and we will inform them about the website and e-mails for further information. At the end of the work all the volunteers will participate in the evaluation and closing remarks at the Spiritist Center, when they will be able to expose their experiences and to clarify their doubts.
